GREENSBORO — Joseph "Joe" Gelo passed on Sunday, February 3, 2013.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
Joe was born in Manhattan, New York to the late Rose and Angelo Gelo. He graduated from St. John's University College of Pharmacy and enlisted in the US Navy in February 1944. He was Charter President of the St. John's University Redmen Sports Booster Club and also was President of J&H Music programming, syndicated to radio stations nationally.
He is survived by his lovely wife Helen of 59 years, daughter Debbie, brothers Val (Dale), Sal, sister Tina McHugh (Frank) and many relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Forbis and Dick-Guilford Chapel.
