
EDEN Mr. John Wayne Burnette, 77, of 1318 South Ave, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Morehead Nursing Center surrounded by his loving family.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Burnette was born in Rockingham County the son of Nathan Edmond and Edna Saunders Burnette, both deceased. He was a truck driver for many years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a very devoted son. He was an outstanding member of the "Jones Gang" that hung out at the J Mart in the mornings. He was also allowed to make coffee at the Railroad Café.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Wayne Burnette.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Mitchell Burnette of the home; his daughter, Robin Land Yeatts and husband Jeff of Reidsville; his grandchildren, Wesley Nathan Land and Emily Claire Land, and his loving devoted dogs, Evey and Adam.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
