OAK RIDGE — John Adams, 61, died Saturday at Moses Cone Hospital lovingly surrounded by his family. John was born in St. Louis, MO, October 8, 1950, to Merle Leon and Barbara Pittman Adams. John was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was an active member of Oak Ridge United Methodist Church. John and his wife, Leslie are members of the New Beginnings Sunday Class. John was part of the sound tech team for the church. John and Leslie also volunteered delivering Mobile Meals for Guilford County.
There will be a memorial service at Oak Ridge United Methodist Church on Wednesday August 1 at 2 p.m. with Reverends Karen and Michael Kurtz officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.
John was preceded in death by his father; He is survived by his loving wife, Leslie; his son, Justin Michael Adams; his mother, Barbara Kay Dickens of St. Louis, MO; a sister, Christine Wood of Arnold, MO; and a brother, Russell Adams of St. Louis, MO.
