HIGH POINT Mrs. Joan Black Williams, 79, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2012 at the High Point Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Williams was born in High Point, November 4, 1933, a daughter of W.T. Black and Myrle Steed Black. A lifelong resident of High Point, she retired from Marsh Furniture. She was a member of Conrad Memorial Baptist Church. Joan was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Jim Williams.
Surviving are a daughter, Amber Idol and husband Tim of High Point; a son, David Williams and wife Marcy of Greensboro; two granddaughters, Sarah Cates and husband Damen and Audrey Williams; a great-granddaughter, Sophia Cates; sisters, Dora Margaret Debry and husband Art of Fresno, CA and Linda Lambert and husband Phil of High Point; brother, Willie Ralph Black and wife Shelvy of Thomasville; fiancé Alex Groves of High Point.
A Celebration of Joan's Life will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Conrad Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Marcus Campbell. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. Memorials may be directed to Conrad Memorial Baptist Church.
