GREENSBORO — Jessie Miller, 82 years old, departed this life on Wednesday evening April 11, 2012, surrounded by his family and friends after a very brief illness.
Jessie was born in Kershaw, SC on July 8, 1929, one of 5 children born to the late Thomas and Beulah Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Alma Miller, Willie Mae Phillips, Leo Miller, and most recently Rosie Newman.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 54 years, Annie Grace, one daughter Geneva Lewis, and one granddaughter Jessica Lynn Lewis.
He retired after 23 years from P. Lorillard Tobacco Company where he was a packer.
Jessie never met a stranger and would often break out in song as he accompanied himself on one of his many vintage guitars. He was a great lover of music.
The homecoming service will be held at Trinity AME Zion Church, 631 E. Florida St., Greensboro, NC on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. Visitation and Family hour will be from 3 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 N. O'Henry Blvd., Greensboro, NC.
Woodard Funeral Home is assisting the family.
