MARTINSVILLE, VA — James McCall "Jim" Baker, 81, of Martinsville, Virginia died of complications of leukemia on March 20, 2012.

Born November 21, 1930 in Rowland, NC, he earned a BS in Business at the University of North Carolina in 1953. He served in the Army for two years then began a career in accounting. He worked in Greensboro before moving into the textile industry, a change that took him to Martinsville, Virginia in 1973. He retired in 1996 and focused his time on service to his community.

He married Nancy Rose Leonard in March of 1962. Their son Albert Baker, his wife Tracy, and children Tom and Rose live in Lynchburg, Va. Mac Baker and his wife Mary Beth live with their children James and Ellie in Lexington, Va.
