GREENSBORO — James Gaddy, 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, February 16, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 20, 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Chris Davis officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
James was born on August 14, 1927, in Oneonta, Alabama, one of thirteen children of Charles M. and Madie Edwards Gaddy. James served his country during WWII in the US Navy and was assigned to the USS Chester. On July 8 1967, James married Melba D. Gaddy. They moved to Greensboro, NC in 1971 and formed M and J Development. He held both a North Carolina Real Estate Broker's License and a Contractor's License. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
James was preceded in death by his loving wife Melba on January 25, 2013. He is survived by his daughters, Patti Gatewood of Stokesdale, NC, Ann Bock; son, James Gaddy Jr.; brother, Cecil Gaddy and sister, Mary Ruth Gaddy; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.
