

JEFFERSON Mr. James "Jim" Edgar Hayes, 79, of Jefferson went to be with his Lord on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at WFU Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Hayes was born November 18, 1932 to the late Edgar and Ila Tucker Hayes. He attended Jonesville High School and Lee's McCraw College where he graduated from the drafting program. Mr. Hayes worked as a HVAC contractor for 43 years in Greensboro, he taught at Wilkes Community College and was a Home Inspector. Mr. Hayes was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Korean War and he was a Mason.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris; son, Mark E. and wife, Michelle of Greensboro and grandchildren, Luke and Logan; daughter, Deborah and husband, David Fryar of Tarboro and grandchildren, Matthew and Lauren, great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Phillip and Ada ; daughter Linda and husband, Byron Caraway of Easley, S.C., grandchildren, John and Chelsea.
A memorial service will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church in Jefferson at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 26. Online condolences may be made through www.salemfh.com.
