JAMESTOWN — James Dallas Howell III passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2013 after a long courageous battle with cancer at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.

His services will be on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Adams Farm Community Church on Mackay Rd. at 7 p.m. The visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Road. The graveside service will be on Thursday, Jan 10 at 10 a.m. at Guilford Memorial Park on High Point Rd. Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel will be assisting the family with the arrangements.

Jim was born on November 17, 1948 in Ocala, FL, to Sara Nance Howell and the late James Dallas Howell, Jr. "Jimmy" was 12 years old when he first came to Jamestown. He graduated from Ragsdale High School in 1966 and from Wake Forest University in 1970. Jim retired from Griffith Rubber Mills as Regional Sales Manager after more than twenty years of service.

Jim met the love of his life, Kathy, in September, 1993 and they were married on December 16, 2000. They are members of Adams Farm Community Church. Jim served as a deacon and was a very involved, faithful member of the church.

Jim will forever be remembered for his love of nature and birds, passion for cooking, and his unwavering faith in the Lord.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kathy Gray Howell; his mother, Sara Nance Howell, of Colfax; his children and step-children: James Dallas Howell, IV ("Bud") of Asheville, Lane Howell of Greensboro, Adam Gray of Cary and Amy Gray of Cary; his sisters: Martha Nance Howell of Hendersonville and Sara Lee Howell of Montgomery, AL (Andrew Bayley); Anne Nulsen of Kernersville; and his furry friends Willie, Molly, and Tigger.

The family would like any memorial contributions to be given to:
