

GREENSBORO Jack Carlton Allen, 89, passed away Monday, December 29, 2012.
A 2 p.m. funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church. Interment will follow immediately afterwards at Westminster Gardens.
Jack was born in Greensboro on August 27, 1923 to the late Carlton and Irene Allen. After serving his country in the U.S. Army, he worked in several business ventures before becoming the assistant manager at the Greensboro Elks Lodge #602. Jack was a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Seekers Sunday School class. Additionally, he was big NY Yankees fan and enjoyed gospel and country music. He was also caregiver to his aunt Mary Lee for many years.
Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Luke Allen, as well as his aunt, Mary Lee.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan McIntosh. Other survivors include two grandchildren, Jeremy Sweeney and Joseph McIntosh. Additionally, he is survived by three great-grandchildren, Izaiah, Karsyne and Ally, as well as a nephew, Michael Allen, and a niece, Tanya Froeber, and husband, Joe.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and other times at the home of Susan, 3303 Lawndale Dr.
Susan would like to express her sincere appreciation to Bonnie Rimmer and also the caregivers at Hospice of Greensboro for all the love and care they gave to her father during his illness.
