GREENSBORO — Helen Plunkett "Pat" Hodgin passed away at Moses Cone Hospital on Friday, November 2, 2012 following a brief illness.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6 at Moriah United Methodist Church. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pat was born in Guilford County on December 15, 1931 to the late Talton and Fleta Williams Plunkett. She worked for many years at UNCG in the Department of Dance and was a long standing member of Moriah United Methodist Church. Pat was an avid pet lover and it was unusual to see her without one of her many "four footed children". She and her husband "Chazz" will long be remembered in southern Guilford County for their many afternoon cookouts for family and friends on the family farm.

She was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and husband of over 45 years, Charles "Chazz" Hodgin.

She is survived by her son, Lee Younts and wife Casey; daughter, Lori Mills; grandchildren, Jaclyn Mills and Michelle Mills; and close family friend Bill McBride.

The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Guilford Healthcare for the excellent care they provided to Pat in her last days.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Monday, at Forbis & Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Guilford County Animal Shelter, 4525 W. Wendover Ave., Greensboro, NC 27409 or Moriah United Methodist Church, 3611 Liberty Rd., Greensboro, NC 27406.
