MCLEANSVILLE — Mr. Harvey V. Sams, 74, of McLeansville, died Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Beacon Place.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26 at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home with the Reverend Allen Filgo and Mr. Donald Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.

Mr. Sams was born in Guilford County April 12, 1938, to Alonzo and Rosa Reece Sams. He served in the US Army and was of the Baptist faith. He loved baseball, bluegrass music, gardening, hunting, and his grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Baldwin, brothers, Arnold Sams and Raymond Sams.

Mr. Sams is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruth Allen Sams; daughters, Misty Carter and husband Jeff, Scarlette Hines and husband Terry Sr.; sisters, Elsie Seagraves, and Louise Sizemore; brother, Joseph Sams; eight grandchildren, Quinton Hines, Devin Hines, Channing O'Ferrell, Chad O'Ferrell, Richard Carter, Brad Carter, Terry Hines Jr. and Kathy Youngpeter.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Misty and Jeff Carter.
