
GREENSBORO Geneva Peters Foy died December 5, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, December 10 at Rankin Baptist Church, 3317 Summit Avenue in Greensboro. Visitation will be held in the church fellowship hall at 2 p.m. prior to the service. The Reverend John Jarman and Chaplin Beverly Isley-Landreth will conduct the service.
Geneva, affectionately known as "Gaggy" by all who knew and loved her, was born in Endicott, Virginia on August 20, 1927 She was the daughter of Harvey and Virgie Booth Peters. After graduating from Ferrum, VA High School, she moved to Hampton, VA to attend Hampton Roads Business College. Geneva then relocated to Greensboro where she spent most of her adult life. She was employed by Container Corporation of America before retiring in 1992. She loved her family with all her heart and received much pleasure in life by helping others in need. Gaggy was loved and admired by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She lived life to the fullest and never met a person who remained a stranger. A lady of integrity and courage,, she fought the good fight, finished the race and always kept the faith.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ora Peters, Lessie Vaughn; and brother, Grover Peters.
Surviving to cherish "Gaggy's" memories are her daughter, Shirley Kennedy (Jim) of McLeansville NC; son, Jim Foy of Greensboro NC; grandchildren, Kim O'Brien (Ray) of Archdale NC; David Kennedy of McLeansville NC; Shannon Hefti (Patrik) of Singapore; Brandon Kennedy of Graham NC; Derek Foy (Rachael) of Greensboro NC; Jennifer O'Toole (Kevin) of Vancouver WA; nine great-grandchildren; six great- great- grandchildren; sisters, Lera Lloyd of Newport News VA; Edith Haskins of Belleview Fl; Clovis Cooper of Ridgeway VA; Rhoda Fulcher (Elmer) of Martinsville VA; brother, Eugene Peters (Bessie) of Collinsville VA; special friend, Carolyn Mitchell of Greensboro NC, and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, especially Teresa Griffin, Trudy Truesdell and Chaplin Beverly Isley-Landreth, for all the professional, kind, loving and spiritual care they provided our precious "Gaggy".
