
GREENSBORO Frances Dowdy Miller, 91, passed away at her home on Tuesday afternoon.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Gospel Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Pastor Paul Luttrell.
Except for a brief time in New Jersey during WWII, she was a lifelong Greensboro resident who was raised in the Revolution Mill Village during the 1920's and 30's. During the first half of her life she was a member of Northside Baptist Church, where she established many life-long friends. In the 1970's, she joined Gospel Baptist Church, where she was a faithful and loved member.
She was preceded in death by her five siblings, her husband, Harlie Miller, Sr. (1981) and a son, Donald Miller (1987).
She is survived by several members of her immediate family, who all live in the Greensboro area, including her daughter, Susan Koutsky, son-in-law, Dale Koutsky; son Harlie Miller, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Kellie Miller; three grand-children, Allen Long and his wife Lynn Long, Houston Miller, and Makayla Miller; one great grand-son, Jamie Long; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service.
As a reflection of her love for family, memorial donations in place of flowers are sincerely requested, and should be made to the Gospel Baptist Church Christmas offering, 5945 N. Church Street, Greensboro to help families during the holiday season.
The family wishes to express much appreciation to all those who visited and cared for her during these last few years.
