
GREENSBORO Evelyn Foster Murray, 88, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.
An 11 a.m. funeral service will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Westminster Gardens.
Evelyn was born in Danville, VA on July 12, 1924 to the late Dillard and Myrtle Foster. She retired from P. Lorillard as a lab technician in 1991 after 35 years of service. Following her retirement, she worked at a child daycare for several more years. Evelyn was a kind person who cared about others more than herself. She was very active at Stevens Memorial Baptist Church serving as a youth Sunday school teacher and in the nursery. She also enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens with her husband. Evelyn devoted her life to serving God and her family gave her much joy as she did to them also.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Carlyle Knighton Murray as well as their son, Robert "Bob" Murray. She was also preceded in death by brothers J.D. and David Foster as well as a sister, Christine Kaplan.
She is survived by her sister, Marlene Jones (husband Lee). She is also survived by grandchildren Kelly, Jamie and Scott Murray (wife Kathy). In addition, she is survived by great- grandchildren Robin, Cody and Alex Murray and Paul and Kyra Haiflex.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 16, 2012, from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street.
