
HIGH POINT Mr. Eugene Herman Shaw, 73, of High Point, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at High Point Regional.
Eugene was born February 28, 1939, in Champaign, IL, a son to the late Vella and Jewell Shaw. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a step son, George Michael Fowler. Eugene was a Fighter Pilot in the US Air Force. Following his military career he became a pilot for Braniff Airlines where he was assigned to be the private pilot for the Dallas Cowboys for 10 years, Piedmont Airlines and then finished his career with US Airways in 1999. He married the love of his life, the former Margaret Ann Fowler. Eugene fell in love with his extended family and became a true member, loving them all as his own. He enjoyed playing racquet ball, golf and was an avid sportsman. Eugene had a special place in his heart for animals. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, brother and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Margret Ann Shaw of the home; a son, Christopher Shaw and wife Bobbie of Chicago, IL; a daughter, Shannon Thomas and husband, Michael of Texas; a sister, Donna Reeves of Seattle, WA and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, February 21 in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point with Rev. Stuart Noell and Rev. Harold Shives officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Thursday, prior to the service.
