
GREENSBORO Eric Franklin Bowden departed this earthly life at his home on Friday, April 13, 2012.
Eric was born on September 30, 1963 in Greensboro, North Carolina, to Rosa Bowden and the late James Franklin Bowden.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church. Visitation begins at 12:30 p.m. and the service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens in Jamestown, NC.
Eric became a member of Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church at an early age. He was a member of the Young Adults in Christian Ministry and the male chorus. He also served on the Board of Trustees.
Eric graduated from Dudley High School and continued his education at North Carolina A&T State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He had a great passion for music that began when he was a student at Dudley High where he played in the school Band. He was in the Marching Band at A&T State University and was a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity. After graduating, he continued to play in the A&T Alumni band.
During his 48 years, he lived life fully and brought joy to his family and friends through his outgoing personality, jovial, kind and compassionate nature. He was a loving young man who displayed that love through his interactions with his niece and younger cousins. His love for family was demonstrated through his willingness to visit with and assist the elderly.
Eric was predeceased by his father, James, grandparents Ollie Womble, Ellis and Johnnie Bowden.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving mother, Rosa Bowden; sister Jennifer Shaw (Michael); a treasured niece Jana Shaw; Aunts Kathryn Irvin (Uncle Calvin), Carolyn Bowden McNeil all of Greensboro; Uncle Marcel Bowden of Elizabeth City; Cousins James Foxx, Maxine Bakeman, Rosa Purcell (Arthur) of Greensboro; Joyce Flowers (Lloyd), Tynika Purcell, Bonita Rosello, Tracey Edwards, Janet Foxx of New York; LaMar McNeil (Jasina), LaMar McNeil II, Charlotte, NC; Morris Bowden, Rashad Flowers of Durham; Dorothy Robinson, Sandra and Monica Dillard of Greensboro; and several relatives and close friends.
