RANDLEMAN Elsie Melvina Capps Brown, 87, a resident of Randleman died Wednesday at her residence. She was born May 22, 1925 in Greensboro the daughter of Herman and Lucy Bell Capps. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School and owned and operated Brown's Bookkeeping Service until she retired. She was a member of the Gateway Civitans. A birthright Quaker, Elsie was an active member of Spring Garden Friends Meeting.
Ms. Brown was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Brenda Bennett and a son, David "PeeWee" Brown, III.
Surviving are three daughters, Gail Burnett and husband Woodrow of Stokesdale, Linda Brown of Crestview, FL, Lorena Brown of Randleman; two sons, Terry Bennett of Pleasant Garden, Allan Brown of Pleasant Garden; eight grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery conducted by Reverend Kevin Bauswell and Reverend Ben Hurley. The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
A Celebration of Life Service for Elsie will be held Sunday December 9, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Spring Garden Friends Meeting House conducted by Reverend Kevin Bauswell and Reverend Ben Hurley. A reception and receiving of friends will be at the church from 1 p.m. until service time.
