CLIMAX — Mr. Edward "E.W." Walker Wilkinson, Jr. went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Moses Cone Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 8, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Burial will be private on Sunday.

Mr. Wilkinson was born on April 10, 1931 in Alamance County. He retired with 46 years of service at Made-Rite Sandwich Company. E.W. was a loyal member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church where he was also a member of the Adult Fellowship Sunday School class. In addition, he was a member of the N.C. National Guard, 730th Ordinance Battalion, Company A. He loved to play cards, was an avid camper and member of Rambling Squares Camping Club.

Mr. Wilkinson was preceded in death by parents, Edward Wilkinson, Sr. and Nettie Cehen Wilkinson, along with several brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory are wife, Kay Wilkinson; sons, Edward L. Wilkinson, Barry Lee Wilkinson; step-children, Priscilla Welch, James Bullard, Kathy Denkenberger (Mark) and Ginny Fields (Brad); sister, Mary Brock; grandchildren, Barry Wilkinson, Jr., Merinda and Mark; step-grandchild, Jerry Welch, as well as several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Forbis & Dick, Pleasant Garden Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, MMRF Fund, 6103 Apppomattox Rd., Climax, NC 27233.
