GREENSBORO — Edward L. Hite went Home on February 2, 2013 at Wesley Long Hospital surrounded by his loving family. A memorial celebration will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday February 4 at Muir's Chapel United Methodist Church. The Reverend Vance Lowe will be officiating and inurnment will be a private service at a later date.

Ed was born on July 17, 1924 in Stanford, WV to the late Connie and Grover Hite.

He was a decorated veteran of WW II and the Korean War. He was a musician and singer with the Renfro Valley Barn Dance in the late 1940s. He retired from Gilbarco as a superintendent.

He was married to the late Florence Curry Hite who predeceased him in 2003 after 56 years of marriage. Ed is survived by his daughters and sons-in law : Sherry and Michael Bancroft of Greensboro, Kathy and Thomas Johnson of Canton, GA and Connie and Don Larcher of High Point. Grandsons are Eddie Johnson and wife Michelle and Jason Larcher. Granddaughters are Laura Holt and husband Robert, Sarah Reiland and husband Justin and Christy Williams. Great-grandchildren are Hunter and Jenna Holt and Aidan and Zachary Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Ed's beloved Muir's Chapel United Methodist Church/general budget.
