GREENSBORO — Mrs. Dorothy Gilmore of 1902 Belden Dr. went home to be with the Lord after a brief illness Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

She was a native of Lee County (Sanford, NC). She graduated from W.C. Wicker High School in 1945. Later, she graduated from Maco Beauty College in the field of Cosmetology. After a number of years, she opened and successfully ran Ms. G's Beauty Salon. She completed more than 50 years of service to the Greensboro public. She joined New Light Baptist Church in 1975.

Mrs. Gilmore was a longtime member of the Double Decker Pinochle Club, the Magnolia Chapter 23rd Order of the Eastern Star PHA, Gate City Beauticians Association, Chapter III and NC State Cosmetology Association.

Mrs. Gilmore was preceeded in death by her husband Clarence Gilmore and her daughter Rita. She is survived by two daughters, Clara Elizabeth Rambert (Robert) of Greensboro, Doris Gambrelle (Leroy) of Houston, TX, two sons, Clarence Gilmore (Brenda) of Greensboro and Reginald Gilmore (Bunnie) of Greensboro; one brother James McIver of McLeansville, NC, three sisters, Nevada Shoffner, Patricia Martin of Greensboro, Ruth Cox of Cleveland, OH, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Public viewing on Wednesday January 23, 2012 from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Woodard Funeral Home. Family Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m., Thursday, January 24, 2013 at New Light Baptist Church. The funeral services will be at 1 p.m. with interment at Lakeview Cemetery.
