Mrs. Doris Oakley Adams, 79, a resident of Greensboro died unexpectedly Tuesday August 7, 2012 at Moses H. Cone Hospital.

Mrs. Adams was born May 30, 1933 in Wilkes Co., the daughter of Joseph Harmon and Rhoda Johnson Oakley. She graduated from Wilkesboro High School.

Mrs. Adams was a bookkeeper for A & P Food Stores and later worked with Robert H. Hamm and Associates until retiring. She along with her late husband, Charles E. "Charlie" Adams, Sr. was charter members of St. Paul Presbyterian Church and she was a member of the Women's Bible Study Group.

Doris was a devoted wife and loving mother who enjoyed her family.

Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles E. "Charlie" Adams, Sr. and a daughter, Pamela Faye Adams Smith.

Surviving are two sons, Charles E. "Chuck" Adams, Jr. of Greensboro, Jon Allan Adams and wife Maria of Summerfield; one sister, Brenda Faye Oakley Coffey and husband Dave of Raleigh; one brother, Joseph A. Oakley of Greensboro and five grandchildren, Charles E. "Eddie" Adams, III, Amanda Leigh Smith Allen and husband Jeremy, Mark Andrew Smith and wife Kelsey, Charles Matthew Adams and Christopher Allan Adams.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Presbyterian Church conducted by the Reverend Dr. Jay O. Lambeth. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Adams will remain at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Vanstory Chapel where the family will receive friends on Sunday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
