
PLEASANT GARDEN Clarence Walter (C.W.) Quate, 89, died on January 1, 2013 in Pleasant Garden. Born in Greensboro, NC, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Myrtle Floyd Quate.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 5 at Pleasant Garden United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
He was a graduate of Pleasant Garden High School and was a U.S. World War II Army veteran who served in the Pacific from October 1943 to December 1945. He was an active member of the Masons and the Shriners. C.W. had been a member of Pleasant Garden United Methodist Church since 1929.
He was preceded in death by sister, Gerry Quate Hendrix and brother, Joe Quate.
A friend to so many, C.W. was the consummate family man whose joy was being with his wife Hazel of 69.years; a son, Ray Quate and his wife, Janet, of Asheville, NC; daughter Ann Tydings and her husband, Michael, of Ashburn, VA; four grandchildren Ian Quate, Heather Tydings, Meagan Tydings and Christopher Tydings; two nephews Craig Hendrix and Wayne Gibson.
The family will receive friends on Friday, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Forbis & Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel.
