
GLENVIEW, IL Charlotte K. Hurwitz, 92 years old passed away peacefully on Jan. 20, 2013 at her residence in Glenview, IL. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, January 25 at Temple Emmanuel, Greensboro, N.C. Officiating will be Rabbis Andrew Koren and Arnold Task. Burial will follow at the Hebrew Cemetery.
Charlotte was born in Chicago IL, the daughter of Ida Mistetsky and Joseph I. Krevitsky. She attended Sullivan High school and held a BA degree from The University of Chicago, a Masters degree from Cornell University, and pursued additional graduate work at Rutgers University. Charlotte taught Home Economics at William Tennent High School in Warminster, PA. for many years before moving to Greensboro N.C. in 1977. She held a variety of teaching jobs in Greensboro working with a wide range of ages from middle school students to senior adults, and volunteered many hours with the temple and other organizations.
Survived by daughters, Judith Winston and husband, Andrew of Toronto, Canada, Sara Cohn and husband, Stanley of Skokie, Ill.; son, Michael A. Hurwitz and wife, Beverly Kam of California.; grandchildren, Rachel and Jacob Cohn, and Jonathan D. Hurwitz; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband of 65 years, Dr. Melvin D. Hurwitz, died before her on September 21, 2008.
