
REIDSVILLE Mr. Charlie Wayne Witty went to be with his Heavenly Father on February 22, 2013 at 6 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2013 at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Witty was born in Reidsville on April 24, 1943, a son of Arthur and Irene C. Witty, both deceased. He was married to Brenda Jerrell Witty on January 5, 1964. He was retired from Equity Group of Reidsville.
He was saved by the grace of God on October 26, 1974. He was a true man of God. Through all his struggles, he kept his faith. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he had served as deacon, youth director, trustee, singer and song leader, and member of the cemetery committee.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Brenda Witty; his children, Vanessa W. Foley, Laurie W. Richards and husband Lynn, Venise W. Gibbs and husband Dale, Samantha W. Clark and Christopher Witty; his grandchildren, Matthew Hicks and wife Joy, Russell Foley, Joshua Smith, Kayla Richards, Jonathan Richards, Amber Bray, Kristofer Gibbs, Nicole Gibbs, Victoria Clark, Breanna Clark, Lauren Clark; his great grandson, Kaiden Bray; his sister, Annie Kernodle; his brothers, Arthur Witty, Jr. and James Troy Witty; and his mother-in-law, Doris Pillar.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Norma Willard and Brenda Bugner.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at Boone & Cooke, Inc. Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
