GREENSBORO Celia Newton Perry, 78, has gone Home after many years of suffering with emphysema, Crohn's disease and other health issues, and more recently lung cancer.
She is preceded in death by daughter Dorothy at age 41; mother Ruth Stephenson Rackley; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Newton who raised her, and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Zeb V. Stephenson, and her special fur companion of many years, Dachi, whose ashes are being buried with her. Celia is survived by son Robert N. Perry of Liberty and his sons, Robert Jr. (Robbie) and Phillip; daughter Libbie McCutcheon and husband Mark of High Point, and their two sons, Thomas and Travis, and other misplaced grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Celia was born and bred in Raleigh. She lived in Apex and Pittsboro in recent years. In August of this year, she moved to High Point to live with her daughter. Graveside service to be held at Montlawn Cemetery in Raleigh Saturday January 5 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Celia requested donations go to CARE in Chatham County, the SPCA in Wake County, or the Carnivore Trust Tiger Rescue in Pittsboro.
