MOORESVILLE — Carl William Hefner, 65, formerly of Greensboro, NC, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 at Brian Center Health and Retirement Center of Mooresville.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 1, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Pisgah United Methodist Church at 488 Hill Farm Rd., Hiddenite, NC 28636 outside of Statesville, with Wayne Tuttle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hefner was a retired truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Cloer Hefner; parents, Carl Hughes Hefner and Zetter Stout Hefner; and grandson, Cody Blansett.
Carl is survived by his son, Ed Hefner (Kim), of Greensboro; daughters Sherry Mitchell (Timmy), of Vanceboro; Barbara Blansett (Rodney), of Greenville, TN; Rosie Terry (Jimmy), of Stony Point; 13 grandchildren; seven siblings Bobby Hefner (Debbie), Randall Hefner (Wendy), and Shirley Childs (Norman) all of Statesville, Ronnie Hefner and Nancy Estes (Jimmy) both of Harmony, Libby Shoffner (Ronnie) of Shefield, and Julie Bowers (Starlet), of Union Grove; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members whom he loved dearly.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, March 1, at Pisgah United Methodist Church in Hiddenite prior to the service. Mr. Hefner will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour. The family will also visit with friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville is assisting the family with arrangements.
