PLEASANT GARDEN — Carl Elvin Rogers, 93 passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 7, 2013. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Gilmore Memorial Park.

Carl is survived by Rosa Lee Collins Rogers, his wife of 72 years, daughter, Dr. Martha L. Rogers of Anaheim, CA; sons, Raymond Rogers (Scarlet) of Charlotte, and Dan (Lindsey) Rogers of Greensboro. Grandchildren are Carrie Breswitz (James), Kimberly Rice (Jason), Jennifer Rogers (Michael Job), Emily Pearce (Vann) and Elizabeth Rogers. Survivors also include five great-grandsons.

Carl was a long-time member and deacon of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church where he led building committees that greatly expanded the church facilities during the 1960's. He and Rosa Lee were volunteers at Clapp's Nursing Home. Carl was an independent business man and farmer. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Carl loved spending time at the beach.

Family visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, at Forbis and Dick Funeral Service, Pleasant Garden Chapel.

The family wishes to thank all the staff members of Clapp's Assisted Living for their love and care for Carl and Rosa Lee over the last three years. Also, special thanks are extended to Community Home Care and Hospice for their care.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that donations be made to Pleasant Garden Baptist Church, Missions Ministries, PO Box 157, Pleasant Garden, NC 27313.
