

GREENSBORO Byron Earle Maine died on Monday, June 18, 2012 at Beacon Place, in Greensboro.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church where Mr. Maine was a member.
Mr. Maine was born on July 10, 1926 in Kansas City, MO to Mary Dalton Maine and Murray Asa Maine.
In 1947, Mr. Maine graduated from Iowa State University, School of Engineering. In 1952, he graduated from Michigan State University. In addition, Mr. Maine served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.
Early in his career, Mr. Maine was employed as an engineer with General Motors Corp. Also, Mr. Maine was employed as an engineer with Bell Laboratories. Mr. Maine retired from Alcatel-Lucent in 1989 where he was a Director of Purchasing. He was an instructor of Accounting and Business Administration at GTCC from 1990 until 2006.
His parents, Mary Dalton Maine and Murray Asa Maine of Kansas City, MO predeceased Mr. Maine. Also, his aunt, Eloise Maine Davenport and her husband Fayette Davenport of Kansas City, MO predeceased Mr. Maine. In addition, Mr. Maine was predeceased by his first wife Margaret Ward Maine of Advance.
Mr. Maine is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patricia Lynn Maine of the home; his daughter, Pamela Maine Shaw and her husband Kemper of Sydney, Australia; his son, Barry George Maine and his wife Sandra of Winston-Salem; his son Allen Murray Maine and his wife Carol of Pfafftown; his son Eric Thomas Maine and his wife Jenny of Blairstown, NJ.
Mr. Maine is survived by his grandchildren, Sarah Maine, Jessica Maine Bush, Kevin Maine, Derek Maine, Brennan Maine, Jack Maine, and Harley Maine.
Two great-grandchildren, Addison Bush and Wyatt Maine survive Mr. Maine.
The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Beacon Place and at Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro for their loving end of life care and support.
The family would like to thank the staff and the wonderful caregivers at Morningview of Greensboro Memory Care Unit where Mr. Maine was a resident before moving to Beacon Place.
In addition, the family extends its gratitude to the clergy and staff of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church for their prayers, support, and kindness during Mr. Maine's last few weeks.
