GREENSBORO — Mrs. Brona Cockman McManus, 101, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012 in Clearwater, FL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2012, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with Dr. Alton Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
Of the nine children born to the late Carson and Lura Marley Cockman, Brona was the last surviving child. She was one of the members of the "original" Asheboro Street Baptist Church and later a member of Sharpe Road Baptist Church. Thru the years, Brona worked at the original Mayfair Cafeteria in the 1930's, then went to work for Belk's on Elm St., and later Montaldos. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. In addition to her parents and siblings, Brona was preceded in death by her husband M.H. McManus.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Brenda M. Sims of Stuart, Va. and Marilyn M. Cantrell of Clearwater, Fl.; three grandsons, Don Allen of Clearwater, Fl., Kyle Burnette of Stuart, Va., and Kevin Burnette of Greensboro; two great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
