GREENSBORO — Bonnie Lancaster Cyrus, 99, a patient of the Skill Care Unit of Whitestone, a Masonic and Eastern Star Community at 700 South Holden Road 27407, passed away Wednesday morning, December 26, 2012.

Visitation at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545 will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2012.

Funeral Service will follow in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Montlawn Memorial Park.

Bonnie was born November 5, 1913 in Franklin County to John Thomas Lancaster and Florence Elizabeth Lancaster.

Bonnie grew up on a tobacco farm in Franklin County, working very hard with physical labor. She also earned a graduation diploma from Youngsville High School. Since 1949, Bonnie was a member of First Alliance Church in Raleigh, faithfully attending bible-study classes. Her bibles were filled with highlighted passages that were important to her; she would discuss the bible messages with anyone.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Cyrus; her brother, Wilson Lancaster; and her sister, Estelle L. Pearce.

Survivors: Nieces: Bettie P. Jones (Bobby) of Greensboro, Elizabeth Taylor of Raleigh, Deborah Young of Raleigh, Vicki Parks (Tony) of Summerfield, Amy Clegg (Jimmy) of High Point, Karen Barnes (Tim) of Alpharetta, GA, Nephews: Scott Pearce (Gwyn) of Oak Ridge, Jackie Pearce (Mary) of Cary.

There are no words to adequately describe the Hospice loving care given to Aunt Bonnie. Phone calls and frequent visits assured family that she was being well-cared for. A special "thank you" to the following: Kimberly Grove, Andria Schettino, Nancy Vaders, Andrea Summers and John Connor.

Whitestone staff was equally kind and efficient with Aunt Bonnie-Anne, Ruzika, Cuba, Caroline, thank you!

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice and Palliative Care, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.
