JAMESTOWN — Dr. Borah, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend died peacefully at home Wednesday, March 20, 2013.

He was born in Assam, India. His life's journey took him from a small village in India to a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Oregon State University to a tenured professorship at NC A&T University for over 42 years until his retirement in 2011. Dr. Borah took tremendous pride in his work at the University, enjoyed his interactions with students, and admired and respected his many colleagues there.

He loved playing tennis, bridge, and poker with his friends. He was a huge sports fan and enjoyed watching ESPN and all sports, especially Carolina basketball and Carolina Panthers football.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Deepti Borah, his daughter, Anita Ramachandran and her husband Prem, their children, Neal and Nina, of Greensboro; his son, Jay Borah and his wife Shivani of Cary, N.C. His two young grandchildren were the reason he looked forward to another day.

The memorial service will be held Sunday, March 24 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home (5926 W. Friendly Ave, Greensboro).

The family wishes to thank Drs. Ha, Balan, Bouska, Hung, Mann, Nwobu, Ibarra, and Wong and all of the wonderful staff at Cone Health Cancer Center. A special thanks to Cameo. The family would also like to acknowledge the care and support of the Johns Hopkins Sol Goldman Pancreatic Cancer Research Center and Dr. Herman and Amy Hacker-Prietz.

Last, but certainly not least, the family also wishes to thank the local Indian community for their immense and loving support throughout the last year and a half and for their love and everlasting friendship that has provided much joy over the past several decades.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in the name of Dr. Bolindra Borah to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (1500 Rosecrans Avenue Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266) or the Hindu Society of North Carolina of the Triad (2424 Huffine Mill Road, Greensboro, NC 27404).
