GREENSBORO — Billy Gene Wallen, 75, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012, at Moses Cone Hospital.
Billy was born in Stocksville, NC on September 28, 1937, the son of W.J. and Willie Carter Wallen. He served his country in the US Air Force. He worked in heating and air design and commercial installation until his retirement. Billy could always find humor in all situations. He loved to read and was a real "history buff". He enjoyed working with his hands in carpentry and playing his guitar and singing. He loved his family and will be deeply missed.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 47 years, Betty Byrd Wallen; children, Bobby Sledge and wife Linda, Diane Parsons and husband Gary, Casey Wallen and wife Sharon, Paige Morris and husband Michael; grandchildren, Travis, Brittney, Robbie, Shelby, Chase, Jordan, William and great grandson, Brady; sisters, Jackie Wall and husband R.B., Patsy Jackson and husband Larry, Lillian Krahl and husband Kenneth and Linda Richardson and husband Glenn.
Funeral services will be on Monday, 11 a.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with burial with full military rites to follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday.
