LIBERTY — Mrs. Betty York Bowman, 72, of 3204 Hwy 62 East, Liberty, passed away at 11:57 a.m., Saturday, December 08, 2012, at the Hospice Home in Burlington surrounded by her family.
A native of Randolph County, she was the wife of Robert M. Bowman, who survives, and daughter of the late Lilly F. York and Alma Kivett York. She was Secretary for Battleground Tire and Wrecker Service and a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her life was centered around her family. Nothing pleased her more than cooking for them and making sure she did all she could for them.
Surviving, other than her husband of the home, are a daughter, Susan Eudy and husband Bob of Burlington; a son, Steve Bowman and wife Connie of Burlington; a granddaughter, Jennifer Gammon and husband Ross of Mebane; a great grandson, Colton Gammon of Mebane; a sister, Lois McMasters and husband Franklin of Climax; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jesse Lee York.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chuck Ireson and Rev. Lee Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral & Cremation Service in Burlington from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday evening and other times at the residence.
