
WINSTON-SALEM Barbara Jones Cook, 67, of Winston-Salem passed away at Chapel Hill Memorial Hospital on January 8, 2013 after a short illness. She was born on September 28, 1945 to the late Alphonzo and Mary Alice Jones. She graduated from from Winston - Salem State University and obtained a Masters Degree from North Carolina A&T State University. Barbara was an educator in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System and retired after forty years.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Alphonzo and Mary Jones and one sister, Angelia Jones. She leaves to morn her husband Walter Charles Cook Jr., one daughter Deborah Cook Moore (Gregory) ,two step daughters Sinetra Ussary (James) and Tammie L. Cook, four brothers Alphonzo, William, Andrew (Anna) and Darrly (Yvette)Jones. One sister Vicky Jones, three loving grand children Shane, Aaron and Arria Moore, one devoted sister in-law Lula Mae Moore, a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
A memorial service honoring her life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday January 13 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor can be made to Galilee Missionary Baptist Church Scholarship Fund 4129 Northampton Drive, Winston Salem, NC 27105.
