GREENSBORO — Mrs. Annie Kirkman Peele, age 93 went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at her residence, surrounded by her family.

A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Rehobeth United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Peele was born in Guilford County to the late Numa Reid and Cora Layton Kirkman. She always enjoyed being with family members, cooking and entertaining for others, gardening, and camping. She was a graduate of Sumner High School, and has been a life-long member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church, United Methodist Womens Circle, Meals on Wheels, and many other church activities through the years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Peele, Jr. and brother Herbert Kirkman.

She is survived by her children Brenda Metz, JoAnne Hanel, Miriam Jimerson and husband Tom, Joey Peele and wife Theresa, and Debbie Player and husband Ronnie. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday at George Brothers Funeral Service.

Memorials may be directed to the Family Life Center of Rehobeth United Methodist Church, 4475 Rehobeth Church Rd. Greensboro, NC 27406, or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave. Greensboro, NC 27405.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Peele's caregivers, Erica Langley and Hospice & Palliative Care of Greensboro, for the love and care they provided to Annie during her time of illness.
