
GREENSBORO Annie Isabelle "Peggy" Monroe Jenkins passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 27, at the tender age of 86. She will be missed, but we find comfort in knowing she is now enjoying the beauties and sounds of heavenly gardens with loved ones who have passed on before.
Peggy grew up in Robbins, NC. She attended nursing school at St. Leo's Hospital in Greensboro. Through the years, Peggy worked at Wesley Long Hospital in Labor and Delivery, a loving nanny for many years and a driver for Greensboro Auto Auction. Her most important job was the privilege of being a loving wife and mother.
Peggy was married to Jack B. Jenkins December 18,1948. Her life was filled with family, raising 6 children, enjoying 16 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. As her posterity we honor and praise her for her loving example.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, fulfilling many callings though out the years in Relief Society and Primary organizations. She also served with her husband as a missionary in the Eden, NC Branch of the church, and also as service missionaries at the Bishops' Storehouse in Greensboro.
She is preceded in death by her father, Allen Locklin Monroe, mother Nora Katherine Baldwin Monroe, brothers Gilbert Cecil Monroe and Norman Fletcher Monroe.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Jack B. Jenkins, her children Pamela Petrash of Greensboro, Greg (Kerri) Jenkins of Greensboro, Gordon (Kathy) Jenkins of Randleman, Debbie (Ronnie) Beal of Julian, Lisa (Steve) Page of Concord, Scott Jenkins of Elon; sisters Verna Marrie of Bowie, Maryland, Noreen (Hal) Quinn of Sun City, Florida, Eula Holt of Robbins, Betty (Ray)Meeks of Greensboro; brother Allen (Nita) Monroe of Robbins.
The viewing will be held at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home, 1118 N. Elm Street, Greensboro, NC Sunday 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Funeral will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 3719 Pinetop Road, Greensboro, NC 2 p.m. Monday March 4, 2013. Interment will immediately follow at Westminster Gardens.
