WILMINGTON Anne Rankin Jordan Craven died peacefully on February 4, 2013. She was born February 9, 1936 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the daughter of Dr. Henry Watson and Mary Ruth Rankin Jordan.
Anne was a graduate of Salem Academy and Duke University. She taught school in Winston-Salem, NC and worked in Durham, NC before marrying and moving to Wilmington, NC in 1961. Anne volunteered much of her time in the community as the President of the Junior League of Wilmington, a Guardian Ad Litem volunteer, a Hospice volunteer and was on the Catherine Kennedy Home Board of Directors. She loved her church, First Presbyterian, where she was a Stephen Minister, Bible School teacher and a member of the Sanctuary choir for forty-two years.
She loved and treasured her family and is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Walter Gluyas Craven, a daughter, Mary Anne Craven Moldenhauer and her husband, Brian James Moldenhauer of Charlotte, and a son Walter Bennett Craven and wife Pam Simmons Craven of Wilmington, four grandsons, Henry and John Moldenhauer of Charlotte, and Nolan and Tom Craven of Wilmington. She is also survived by her brother Henry Jordan and wife Dyeann, brother Tom Jordan and wife Lillian, brother-in-law Dr. Tom Craven and wife Evelyn, sister-in-law Nancy Jordan and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, Wilmington, NC. There will be a private burial at Oakdale Cemetery.
