
OAK RIDGE A life to celebrate, a blessing to cherish and a love that will last forever. We shall cherish the memories of the love he exemplified for the LORD's glory. The Lord has called one of his disciple's home, Deacon Alvin L. Warren, 68 went home to glory on the early morning of Monday, February 11, 2013 at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 23, 1944 to the late Garland and Vivian Tatum Warren of Stokesdale, NC and he graduated from Laughlin High School in 1963. He left his parents' home and married Mary Hayes Warren of Summerfield and for 48 years they've resided in Oak Ridge. Alvin was a member of Cedar Street Church of God, in High Point, NC. He worked at R.J. Reynolds tobacco company for 34 yrs. and retired in 1999; he also owned and operated Al's Lawn Service for more than 40 yrs. and worked for Guilford County Schools (Bus Driver).
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Warren.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife, Mary H. Warren; three children, Terence (Tracey) Warren of Greensboro, Theresa "Lynn" Warren-Johnson of San Diego, CA and Bishop Timothy L. Warren, of Oak Ridge; eleven beautiful grandchildren; he is also cherished by his brothers, Reverend Harvey (Clastina)Warren of San Diego, CA, Norman (Helen)Warren of Oak Ridge, Donald (June)Warren of Kernersville, Gary Warren of Stokesdale, and Keith Warren of Winston-Salem; sisters, Evone Warren of Oak Ridge, Reverend Vera Carroll of Concord, and Pastor Loraine (James) Frazier of Stokesdale; brothers- in- law, James Hayes of Durham, John (Georgia) Hayes of Greensboro, and Jerry Hayes, Whitmire, SC; sisters-in-law, Inez Clay, of Summerfield, Louise Warren of High Point, Yvonne (Ronald) Vines of Greensboro, Billie (John) Johnson of Gibsonville; a host of nieces and nephews. Alvin is also survived by his aunts, Daisy McWilliams of Greensboro, Helen Dick, of Summerfield, Australia Brunson ,of Winston Salem, and uncles Cline (Martha )Warren of Friendship ,Maryland, Ross (Edna)Warren of Stokesdale, Arthur Ship of Friendship, Maryland, Anderson Daniel of Oak Ridge, a host of cousins other relatives and friends.
Transition celebration will be 2 p.m., Saturday February 16, 2013 at Stokesdale Church of God Family Outreach Center, Stokesdale, NC.
