

GREENSBORO Mr. Walter "Walt" C.C. Johnson, 89, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 15, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Patrick Fuller officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson was born April 27, 1923 in Lowell, MA. to the late Carl and Bernice Johnson.
Walt was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and on various committees. He retired from the US Navy after 38 years of service, serving during WWII, the Korean Conflict and The Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Bette Joyce Johnson of the home; a son David Johnson (Judy) of North Las Vegas, NV; stepchildren, Lynda Morgan of S. Hadley, MA, Steven J. Morgan (Sallie) of Greensboro and Michael A. Morgan (Linda) of Greenville, SC; a grandson, Heath Johnson; step grandchildren, Steven J. Morgan, Jr., Amy Morgan, Ali Morgan, Michael A. Morgan, Jr. and Katy Morgan; a sister, Marjorie Torrise; a beloved niece, Valerie Foley and a Goddaughter, Tiffany Michelle Conrad.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southside Baptist Church Building Fund, 1001 Greenhaven Drive, Greensboro, NC 27406.
