
GRAHAM Mrs. Mabel Thompson Lloyd, 96, of Graham, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 6 a.m. at The Village at Brookwood in Burlington, NC.
A native of southern Alamance County, Mrs. Lloyd was the wife of the late John Rezzie Lloyd. She was the daughter of the late Claude and Belle Thompson. Surviving is her son, Lynn S. Lloyd and wife Maycie Wilson Lloyd of Graham. She was the proud grandmother of two grandsons, Wilson Cameron Lloyd and wife Adrienne and daughter Addison of Phoenix, Arizona and John Clinton Lloyd and wife Lina and daughter Eve of New York, New York.
Mrs. Lloyd was a retired employee of Alamance County, having worked in the Tax Listing Department in the mapping area. She lived in the city of Graham for 30+ years where she was an active member of Graham First United Methodist Church. In the mid 1970's she and Mr. Lloyd moved to her family farm in southern Alamance County where she continued her dedicated and tireless church involvement at Bethel United Methodist Church. Her love for growing and arranging flowers for her neighbors and church was renowned in the community. This passion for flowers was only matched by her love of cooking and baking delicious cakes, pies, homemade bread and yeast rolls.
Mrs. Lloyd was one of seven Thompson sisters and she is survived by two sisters, Mildred Love (husband Ervin-deceased) and Myrtle Godfrey (husband Ervin-deceased). She was preceded in death by sisters, Nina Arnette and husband Bill Arnette, Bonnie Mauro and husband Joseph Mauro, Kate Boles and husband Carl Boles, and Zona Whigham and husband Gene Whigham.
The funeral service will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church on Monday, November 12, 2012 at 3 p.m. Officiating will be the Reverends Marshall Old and Joseph Park. The visitation will be held at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. The family will be receiving guests at other times at the home of Lynn Lloyd.
