HENRY LEE PARKS

GREENSBORO — Mr. Henry Lee Parks, 93 passed on March 2, 2013. Mr. Henry Lee Parks, the son of the late Fleming Marshall Parks and the late Mary Elizabeth Williams Parks, was born on March 19, 1918 in Licolnton, GA. He entered into eternal rest on March 2, 2013 at Shannon Gray Rehabilitation and Recovery Center, Jamestown, NC. After graduating from high school, Henry and Cora fell in love, were married, and from this union their most cherished gift, daughter, Barbara Devon was born. Shortly after, Henry enlisted into the Army during WWII, where he was highly decorated for his bravery and service in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Cental Europe, and European African Middle Eastern Service earning four Bronze Stars. He worked at the United States Postal Service Bulk Mail Center, where he retired after 40 years of dedicated employment. Henry and Cora were devoted members of Providence Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC. Henry also was a member of the Khalif Temple No. 144. Henry Lee Parks was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Cora Margarite Parks; beloved daughter, Barbara Burgess Morris, and his thirteen brothers and sisters. Leaving to cherish his memory are three grandchildren: Christopher A. Morris, John L.V. Morris, and Rhonda Burgess Gatling (John); Four great grandchildren: Simeon, Sarah, Sterling-Grace, and Solomon Christian Lee; adopted son, Willie Edward McDowell (Christine), grandchildren; Tyleen McDowell, Tamala Omodho and Morgan McDowell and beloved son, Robert Wrenn, along with loving nieces, nephews, cousins, lodge brothers, and many family members and friends.

Service will be held at 11 a.m. visitation and ceremony at 11:30 a.m. at Providence Baptist Chruch, 1106 Tuscaloosa St. Greensboro, NC. Interment immediate following at Piedmont Cemetery.
