EUGENE BOB DEAN

MCLEANSVILLE — Eugene "Bob" Dean, 93, was called to his heavenly home Friday, October 5, 2012 at Beacon Place in Greensboro.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2012, at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church . Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery.

Eugene was born in Greensboro, NC, August 9, 1919 to the late Albert and Effie Dean. Bob served his community and country with pride. Bob was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army in the Asian Theater in Burma and India. He served for many years as Scout Master of Troop 307 with over 20 Scouts receiving the Eagle Award. He was presented the Silver Beaver Award for his service and dedication to scouting. Bob was a faithful and committed member of the McLeansville Lion Club. He was a charter member and served as a past President, and received the Lion of the Year Award and served on various committees. Bob was a Mason in the P.P. Turner Lodge No. 746. Bob worked for many years in the office machine business and was the founder of Dean's Office Machine Co. of Greensboro. Bob was a faithful member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church serving on many committees during the years. He was a loving husband, devoted father, faithful friend and was committee to serving the community of McLeansville.

In addition to his parents Eugene is preceded in death by his wife Edna Gannon Dean; brother, Edgar Dean and sisters, Mildred Hinkle and Myrtle Pilkenton.

He is survived by his son, Reverend Eugene "Gene" Everett Dean Jr. and wife Sandra of Liberty, NC; sister, Margaret "Margie" Mills of Greensboro; sister-in-law, Eula Pugh of Burlington; godchild, Deana King, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 7, 2012, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Forbis & Dick North Elm Street Chapel.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Michael Norins and Dr. James Deterding for their devotion through the years as physicians and also to the nurses of Cone Wesley Long Hospitals and Beacon Place for their excellent care.

Also, many thanks to Mr. Curtis Kennedy and Mr. Odell Payne for being such caring friends through the years
