
ALBEMARLE Dillon Wade Lambert, 80, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday March 2, 2013 in CMC Northeast, Concord, NC.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday March 5, 2013 at Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Fred Carpenter officiating and burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Born March 29, 1932 in Stanly County he was the son of the late Wade F. Lambert and Lillian Aldridge Lambert Burris and was a graduate of Albemarle High School and Winston Salem Barber College. He was the owner and founder of City Barber Shop in Albemarle. Mr. Lambert was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and served aboard the USS Hollis.
He is survived by his wife Jewel Plyler Lambert of the home. Other survivors include son Blair Wade Lambert and wife Melinda of Albemarle, daughter Amy Lambert Owens and husband Donnie of Stoneville, NC, sister Jewel Parker and husband Ted of Oakboro, five grandchildren Erica Owens and fiancé Adam Phillips, Staci Lambert Davis and husband Bobby, Megan Owens, Katie Lambert Harwood and Joe, and Hailey Speight, two great-grandchildren Amy Elizabeth Owens and Parker Wade Davis, sisters-in-law Louise Bates and Hazel Ridenhour, brother-in-law Elworth Plyler, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Jeffery Dillon Lambert and a sister Ardath Lowder.
Dillon was married to his high school sweetheart, Jewel, for 61 years. Together they established and nourished a successful business and touched the lives of many people in the community. Dillon was an award winning Master Barber for 57 years, and continued until the time of his passing. He was a wise, generous, selfless, Christian man, who loved his family, his church, cartoons, cars and helping others.
