GREENSBORO W. Darrell Allred died after a brief illness at the age of 91.
He was blessed by 63 years of marriage with the former Marion Elizabeth Morris. Together they were additionally blessed by two daughters: Tricia (Bruce) Elliott, and their daughters Lucy, Lydia, and Rachel; and Emily (Jeff) Black and their sons, Michael & Adam. He also survived by two step-g randsons, Caleb (Emily) and Jon (MacNair), who affectionately referred to him as "Pop."
Following graduation from High Point College in 1942, Darrell served in the US Navy for a total of 11 years active and reserve duty retiring as Lieutenant Commander. He had a 48 year career at Burlington Industries in their corporate accounting functions.
Long time operator of amateur radio station K4ZKQ, he was also known as "Al." Amateur radio operators who may attend the service or visitation are asked to wear their call sign ID.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace UMC Enrichment Funds, Greensboro Hospice & Palliative Care, or High Point University.
